"What Happened Inside of Them:" Black Biographic Art History and Collaging

Facilitated by: Dr. Destiny Crockett
Saturday, November 15, 1pm-3pm
In Person @ The Friends Center

Using the medium of collage, visual artist, poet, scholar and educator, Dr. DestinyCrockett, will demonstrate how she integrates Black biographic art history into hands-on classroom lessons. You will experiment with collage techniques while learning about Mavis Pusey, a Black woman abstract artist of the 1970’s. Taking inspiration from Pusey’s work, you’ll practice developing your own color palettes and creating geometric shapes and fine lines using solid-colored papers of all textures — no photos or magazine clippings will be used! By the end of the session, each person will have completed their own 11x14 inch collage made of all paper. Teaching artists with all levels of visual art experience are welcome.

🚗  Parking is available across the street at the 15th and Cherry lot at the subsidized rate of $24 with validation from The Friends Center front desk.
